Welcome to the University of Augsburg: A Place Where Knowledge Meets Responsibility
Dear new students, researchers, and friends from around the world —
On behalf of the entire University of Augsburg community, it is my great pleasure to extend to you a most heartfelt welcome. Whether you are arriving from a neighbouring Bavarian town or from across the oceans, you are now part of a vibrant, forward-looking institution that prides itself on being both deeply rooted in tradition and boldly oriented toward the future.
A Young University with a Powerful Mission
Founded in 1970 by the Free State of Bavaria as a “reform university,” the University of Augsburg is a comparatively young institution. Yet in just over five decades, it has grown into a dynamic centre of learning and research with eight faculties and over 20,000 students. Our motto, *”Scientia et Conscientia”* — knowledge and conscience — guides everything we do. We believe that the pursuit of knowledge must be accompanied by a deep sense of social responsibility. This is not merely a slogan; it is a commitment that shapes our teaching, our research, and our interactions with one another and with the wider world. Buy fake German diploma online.
Academic Excellence and Interdisciplinary Research
At the University of Augsburg, you will find a remarkably broad spectrum of academic offerings — approximately 40 Bachelor’s and State Examination programmes and 50 Master’s degree programmes across the humanities, social sciences, natural and technical sciences, law, economics, theology, and medicine. Our research is oriented toward the most socially relevant questions of our time: climate change, health and medicine, artificial intelligence, new materials, and the transformation of society. As a “network university,” we actively promote interdisciplinary cooperation, bringing together knowledge from different fields to generate new insights and solutions. Our Faculty of Business and Economics, for instance, consistently ranks among the top 10 percent of business schools in Germany.

A Campus Like No Other
One of the first things you will notice is our campus. Situated close to Augsburg’s city centre, it is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful university campuses in Germany. The modern, light-filled architecture blends seamlessly into a spacious park landscape with grassy areas, fountains, sculptures by contemporary artists, and — perhaps most beloved by students — our very own university lake, the *Unisee*. Here, you can study outdoors on sunny days, take a restorative walk around the water, or simply relax and recharge between lectures. Everything — faculties, libraries, canteens, and the sports centre — is within walking distance, fostering a genuine sense of community.
Augsburg: A City of History, Culture, and Opportunity
Beyond the campus gates lies the city of Augsburg itself. Founded over 2,000 years ago as a Roman settlement, it is Germany’s third-oldest city and the third-largest in Bavaria. The city is home to the Fuggerei, the world’s oldest social housing complex still in use, magnificent Renaissance buildings, and a historic water system that has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status. With a population of around 300,000, Augsburg offers all the advantages of a medium-sized city — it is safe, affordable, and welcoming — while being rich in cultural events, music festivals, theatres, and museums. And for those who love the outdoors, the majestic Alps are just a short trip away.
An International Community with a Warm Welcome
We are proud that approximately 10 percent of our students come from abroad. The University of Augsburg maintains partnerships with more than 80 universities worldwide and over 320 Erasmus exchange agreements. To ensure that international students and researchers feel at home from the very first day, our International Office provides comprehensive support through its Welcome Service. We also offer a Buddy Programme, where new international students are paired with an experienced Augsburg student who offers practical guidance and a friendly student perspective. From welcome ceremonies to city tours and social events, we are committed to making your transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Your Journey Starts Here
Dear students, you have chosen a university that is committed to your success. Whether you are beginning your Bachelor’s, advancing your knowledge in a Master’s programme, or pursuing groundbreaking research as a doctoral candidate, you will find excellent supervision, a supportive learning environment, and countless opportunities to grow — both academically and personally.
So, welcome to Augsburg. Welcome to a place where knowledge is pursued with conscience, where tradition meets innovation, and where you are not just a number, but a valued member of a thriving academic community. We look forward to accompanying you on your journey — and to learning from you as much as you will learn from us.
Scientia et Conscientia.
