He chose to place the university on a plot adjacent to the historic Balamand Monastery, a site founded by Cistercian monks in the 12th century. Today, the University of Balamand operates across five campuses, each with its own distinct character. National Recognition and Global Aspirations
UOB holds a prominent position among Lebanese universities, consistently ranking among the top institutions in the country. It is ranked in the 1001-1200 range in the QS World University Rankings. The Faculty of Health Sciences has achieved significant accreditation milestones: the Nursing programs received unconditional accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) in May 2025, and the Nutrition program received candidacy accreditation from ACEND in February 2025.
