A Story of Transformation
The BHT’s journey began in 1823 with the establishment of a royal gardening academy, an institution that would eventually evolve into one of Germany’s oldest horticultural schools. Over the following decades, numerous engineering and technical schools emerged across Berlin — including the Beuth Engineering School, the Gauss Engineering School, and various institutions for construction, mechanical engineering, and the trades. In 1971, these disparate academies were consolidated into the Technische Fachhochschule Berlin (TFH). The university was renamed Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin in 2009 to honour Christian Peter Wilhelm Beuth, a key figure in Prussia’s industrial development. Academic Breadth and Structure
Today, BHT offers the widest range of engineering, natural science, and business programmes in Berlin and Brandenburg.
